Christian is required to endure a hard and well-deserved punishment with the cane. Christian’s penis hardens into an erection as part his reaction to the punishment. The Master continues to flog Christian with a different type of leather strap and a whip, all these put immense strain on Christian's endurance. It does not seem to dampen Christian’s penis from hardening into an erection though.
